
SHER-LE-MON SWIM CLUB
RULES
Sher-Le-Mon Swim Club Patrons and their Guests are cordially invited to enjoy the facilities of the Club.
The following Rules and Regulations have been adopted and approved by the board of Directors for the primary purpose of benefiting the health and welfare of every person. Your cooperation in abiding by these rules will assist in the maintenance of the safe and sanitary operation of the pool and other facilities, and will add immeasurably to the enjoyment that we may all get from the Club.
Swim Club Patrons are requested to impress upon their children and their guests that all Rules and Regulations must be observed, and that the instructions of the Club Director and his Staff must be obeyed at all times.
Any failure to comply with these Rules and Regulations shall be considered sufficient cause for immediate suspension of Club privileges for the offender for a period of from (1) to seven (7) days, and can also be considered sufficient cause for cancellation of club privileges. Refunds will not be made.
Any employee who knowingly allows any of these rules to be violated will be removed from the staff immediately. There will be no flexibility in the enforcement of these rules.
Should rules be modified or changed in any way, appropriate notice of such change shall be posted on Club Bulletin Boards.
I. CLUB SCHEDULE
1. The Club activities “year” will be designated by the Board of Directors and Club Patrons so informed by the mail.

3. The Club, or any of its facilities, may be closed temporarily for maintenance operations, health conditions, swim meets, or any justifiable reason upon the approval of the Board of Directors.
II USE OF POOL
1. Monday through Friday from 10:a.m. to 12 Noon an area of the pool may be reserved for group instruction at the discretion of the Club Director. This area will be marked off.
2. Children shall not be allowed in the deep end of the pool until they have passed the basic swim test.
3. The basic swim test will be given by the Club Director or a qualified member of his staff.

Requirements shall be a swimming style of a strong kick and overhand stroke; the candidate must swim 30 yards and tread water for one minute; final approval remains within the discretion of the Club Director.
4. Children 8 years to 12 years old, who have passed the basic swim test, may come to the pool unaccompanied by an adult, provided written permission has been submitted by a parent to the
Club Director.
5. The use of the smaller pool shall be limited to children 7 years and under. No metal or rigid plastic toys will be allowed in the smaller pool.
6. At the discretion of the Club Director, only small inflatable tubes or toys will be allowed in the smaller pool.
7. At the discretion of the Club Director, all children 12 years and under must be out of the water for a maximum period of 15-25 minutes during each hour.
8. No children 7 years and under shall enter any swimming pool area unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.
9. Children in the kiddies pool must at all times be accompanied and supervised by a parent or adult sitter.
10. Any child using a flotation device must have a parent or sitter in the water at all times.
III EATING AREA

2. Specific eating areas are designated as follows:
a. The table area adjoining the Snack Bar.
3. All Club Patrons and their guests are expected to keep such areas clean by depositing refuse
in appropriate containers provided for this purpose.
4. Food and Beverages must be consumed in the designated eating area, and may not be brought in the pool or tennis area at any time.
5. It is extremely important that this rule be completely adhered to. Alcoholic Beverages are to be allowed within the confines of the Swim Club for special events, at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
IV GUESTS
1. In-town guests
A. Each Club family unit (including Singles) shall be allowed to have up to ten (10) In-Town

(people who reside within twenty-five (25) miles of the Club) guests per calendar month. A guest privilege shall consist of an admission to the Club of one (1) individual. A Patron may not bring more than four (4) guests on any particular day, unless he has special permission from the Club Director.
B. Additional guest privileges may be granted for special Club sponsored activities for which written notice will be posted in advance on the Club Bulletin Boards.
C. All In-Town guests must be accompanied and registered by a Club Patron. One (1) admission per month limit for any one guest.
D. Sitters for club patrons are allowed according to the rules below:
1 - Parents must fill out a registration form available only at the club, and pay the appropriate fee for the season, for a full time sitter.
2 - Number of individuals listed as sitters is limited to two (2) persons. Number of sitters registered will be limited.
3 - Sitters or caregivers must abide by all club rules.
4 - Sitters or caregivers may be enrolled as guest, and as such, the regular guest fees apply and are charged against the family quota.
5 - Sitters are in lieu of parents
6 - Baby sitters or caregivers must be at least 13 years old.
7 - All baby sitters or caregivers must remain with the children at all times
E. Only registered sitters or paid guests will be allowed within the confines of the Club.
2. Special Guests The following shall have unrestricted attendance privileges:
A. Out-Of-Town Guests who reside more than twenty five (25) miles from the club.
B. All Special Guests must be accompanied and registered by a Patron when the guest fee charge is on a daily basis. If the guest registration is for a period of more than one day, then the special guest must be accompanied by and registered by a Patron only upon initial registration.
C. “Extended Period” Out-Of-Town Guests will receive a card showing their period of stay and the name of the Club Patron who is the Host.

D. Any member who has used all his guest privileges during any given period is not allowed
to use the guest privileges of another member.

The option as to the period desired for Special Guest registration shall be made upon the first
registration and no credit will be allowed upon additional registration for the fees already paid.
4. The conduct of guests is the direct responsibility of the sponsoring person.
VI PATRONS OBLIGATIONS
1. Individuals must show swim club cards and guests must show guest cards when entering the
Club property. The Club Director must be notified if a card is lost, and replacement will be made
at a charge of $1.00 per card. Admittance to the Club facilities will be by swim club card only at
the check-in point. Individuals having no cards with them must sign in and give swim club number.
2. Swim club cards are not transferable.
3. A club patron shall pay for the damage done to the Club property by himself, his family or
his guests.
4. Individuals and their guests shall drive slowly and carefully at all times on all approach roads
and parking areas. Parking is not permitted in the driveway area.
5. Individuals and their guests must park in the swim club’s designated parking areas.
VII HEALTH AND SAFETY
Articles with (*) are as per Rhode Island Department of Health, Chapter 42-35 as amended 1992.
*1. “Any persons with an infectious and/or communicable disease shall be prohibited from
utilizing the swimming and wading pool, including persons with open lesions, blisters or cuts
and rashes.”
*2. “Spitting, spouting water, blowing the nose, or urinating in the pool is prohibited.”

*3. “No running, boisterous or rough play, ball playing, games of any kind or causing undue
disturbances are allowed in or about the pool area.
*4. “No pets or other animals are permitted in the pool of Club property except for seeing-
eyed dogs accompanied by a blind person.”
*5. “Caution should be used at all times on the low board.”
*6. “All bathers are required to take cleansing shower baths prior to entering swimming or
wading pool. This also means that all athletic participants must shower prior to each use of
the pool.
*7. “Food and drink is prohibited in the swimming or wading pool and concrete apron
surrounding the pool at all times. Use designated area only.
8. All persons entering the enclosed pool area coming from the volley ball court or any grassed
area must remove all dirt and sand from their bodies, by taking a shower.
9. Smoking is prohibited on all swim club property.
10. Inflated tubes, jackets, masks, toys, flippers, web feet or other such paraphernalia are not
allowed in the main pool.
11. Bathing caps are required for females wearing hair pins, bobby pins, long hair, etc.
12. The storage of wet suits or towels in dressing rooms is not permitted.
13. The Club Director may deny personal equipment being brought in that he considers will be
hazardous to the operation of the club.
VIII GENERAL
1. All persons using any of the Club Facilities do so at their own risk. The Club will not be responsible for any accident or injury in connection with such use.
2. The Club will not be responsible for loss or damage to personal property.
3. Children 7 years and under must be accompanied at all times by an adult or adult sitter.
4. The Club Director is in complete charge of the staff and all facilities of the Club, and is
empowered to enforce all Rules and Regulations.
5. Infractions of Club rules could result in suspension of Club rights at the discretion of the
Club Director. However, permanent suspension or cancellation of privileges shall be by
authority of Board of Directors.
6. Any complaints must be in writing, addressed to the Club Director.

7. It is strongly suggested that valuables not be taken to the Club.
8. No club patron or any person in their family, will be considered for employment at the
Club.
9. No chewing gum in the pool area.
10. Radios must be played on “low volume”.
11. All children 12 years and under must be accompanied by an adult 16 and over after
12. Tipping of Club Employees is forbidden.
13. Suggestions for additions, corrections and improvements of these rules are always welcomed.
They should be made in writing to the President for appropriate action.
14. No person, in the opinion of the Club Director, who is under the influence of intoxicating
beverages, shall be allowed on swim club facilities.
15. No notice, subscription paper or petition shall be posted or circulated except by permission
of the Club Director.
16. Adults shall have preference of Club chairs at all times.
17. Teenagers are not allowed to congregate on the porch.
IX SWIM CLUB APPLICATIONS DEFINED
Family Unit: Husband and/or wife and “Head of Household”, including any children domiciled
in the household who has not yet attained his or her 23rd birthday.
Associate: A. Any member of a family unit attaining his or her 23rd birthday domiciled in a
household holding a family unit, will be charged an additional fee.
B. Foreign exchange student domiciled with a club patron with proper
documentation.
Single Unit: Individual Person.
Foster child/children will be considered part of a family unit upon proof of certification by the
family unit and proof of certification by the respective agencies.
Applications are limited; no partial payment for applications accepted. There are no reservations
and/or refunds.

TENNIS COURT RULES
A. GENERAL
1. Tennis courts will be open daily from 10 to 8, weather permitting. The Club Director or designated
supervisor shall be the sole judge in determining whether the courts are suitable for play.
2. All persons are required to observe proper tennis court conduct and are subject to the same rules applying to Sher-Le-Mon Swim Club Individuals.
3. The Club Director or designated supervisor will at all times possess absolute authority. If in his
opinion any player appears over-exposed to sun or fatigued he will call an immediate halt in play.
4. If, in the opinion of the Club Director or designated supervisor, persons using the courts are not
qualified to play, or are damaging the courts, or are not conducting themselves in an orderly
fashion, such persons will be asked to leave the courts.
B. USE OF COURTS
1. Adults of the Sher-Le-Mon Swim Club and their children may use the courts subject at all times to these rules.
2. Children having attained the age of 16 will be considered an adult.
C. PRIORITY HOURS
1. Adults will have priority from
2. Children may play doubles during priority hours only if two adults are also playing with them.
3. Children under 13 years of age will not be permitted on the courts during priority hours except with permission of Club Director or designated supervisor.
D. RESERVATIONS
1. All persons using the courts must register with attendant at the Swim Club prior to using the courts.
2. No person may use the courts for more than one continuous hour unless there is absolutely no demand for the courts.
3. All reservations are limited to one hour.

4. Any player using the courts without priority or proper registration, will be required to relinquish the courts in favor of a member with priority who has properly registered for the period.
5. The registration log is the official guide in determining priority. Players must sign for a specific time, and list other players in the group.
6. Adults will be allowed to make advance reservations, for themselves only, not more than 23 ½ hours in advance. No others will be allowed reservations in advance of the playing date.
E. COURT ATTIRE
1. Smooth, Rubber Soled Tennis Shoes only must be worn by all persons using the courts.
2. Dress must be in accordance with accepted standards.
3. Tops are required at all times.
4. The Club Director or designated supervisor will be the sole and final judge in determining the suitability of all apparel and playing equipment.
VOLLEYBALL COURT RULES
1. Bare feet only in sand
2. Everyone must shower after playing
3. No hanging on the net
4. No kicking or throwing sand
5. No profanity
6. Children under 8 must be supervised by an adult or sitter who is responsible for the child.
7. Use of sand area is for volleyball play only.
8. Parents are reminded that the volleyball court is not a sandbox.
